Shelton played Wendy Peppercorn, who was first seen walking down the street. Squints eyed her since he had a crush on her and she smiled at him while she continued to walk. Midway through the movie, the sandlot kids went to a local pool and Squints went into the deep end and appeared to be unconscious. Wendy was the lifeguard on duty that day and dove in to get Squints. When she performed CPR on Squints, he smiled at his friends as she listened for a heartbeat, showing that he faked being in trouble just so Wendy could help him. Squints then kissed Wendy and she scolded him for what he did. At the end of the movie, it was revealed that Squints married Wendy. Shelton guest starred on the TV series "American Dad!", "Karen Sisco" and "Cybill".

This slogan is referenced in the movie by Smalls' narration. When Benny arrives at the sandlot and gets ready to jump over the fence, he takes off his old Converse shoes and puts on the PF Flyers right out of the box.

When Smalls is first invited to play with the boys by Benny, he is very nervous and does nto know much about baseball anyway. Since he is the ninth player and one player must be the batter, that leaves just eight position players. Therefore, they must play with just two outifelders instead of three meaning that one player needs to play left-center and the other plays right-center. Benny asks Smalls to play left-center but Smalls ends up going to left. Benny then says, "That's left, I said left center." Smalls moves over and finds the correct spot.
